Notes

I am very interested in accessibility for the partially sighted, and wanted to include buttons for increasing screen magnification and contrast. I'm still having trouble with the buttons to increase/decrease font size, they need to be pressed several times to work. Hopefully that will be sorted out shortly. They are javascript-based, so they won't work if scripting is turned off.

I keep changing my mind about whether or not to use accesskeys. I have used them in the past, but have been doing a lot more work in JAWS and am cautious of conflicts with the JAWS program. After being privileged to work with a Section 508 test team who have full visual impairment, I have increased respect for the challenges that the JAWS users face, and chose to keep it simple with just 4 keys for the most basic functions.

I have included text that is only viewed by screen readers. This is primarily organizational headings to make it easier to navigate the site by headers.

I am also interested in having the site interpreted in ASL and would love to work with someone about it. Please contact me if you have an interest in this area.

Problems?

If you encounter any difficulty in using this site, please let me know. I am always looking for ways to improve it. Sincerely,
Jeanne Spellman
